This small painting of my granddaughter, Grace, was done for her 8th birthday. For the reference photo, I asked her to hold a favorite toy and try to look like a model displaying an item for sale...maybe wear a little makeup. Her mom put a bit too much makeup on her and she appears too "made up" for an 8 year old. But I painted it anyway since the image came out so visually interesting. Her dad didn't like it much, but she still has it hanging on her bedroom wall, and one day I'll do her a better, larger portrait. This one is only about 18 inches square.
